USINDO Summer Studies

USINDO Summer Studies has been held since 1996 with the generous support of the Freeman Foundation. The program has 250 alumni across the United States most of whom have done continued career work related to Indonesia.

USINDO Summer Studies program is a custom-designed language and cultural immersion program that is distinct from most Summer Studies programs. It is comprised of an intensive ten-week language and cultural studies fellowship held from June to August in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Other aspects of the program include interactive lectures, field trips, and stays with host families for 24-hour immersion.

This enriching program in Yogyakarta will be enhanced by the chance to gain exposure and networking opportunities through a post-program component called Discover Jakarta. This segment is tailored to expand participants’ perspectives and knowledge, through discussion with government officials, experts, academics, NGOs, and the private sector.

USINDO Summer Studies is open to U.S.- citizen university students currently enrolled in undergraduate level (juniors and seniors), graduate students, and graduates who earned their degree within the last six months.
