The people-to-people relationship is an integral component of the bilateral relationship,  and education is key to this. Student, faculty, and researcher exchanges have historically been important ways through which the people-to-people relationship has developed, a relationship that extends beyond governments alone. Scholarships, exchange programs, joint degree opportunities, and institutional partnerships are all important ways of making educational collaboration a feasible option for Americans and Indonesian alike.

USINDO is actively involved in furthering these opportunities and reporting on potential areas of growth and cooperation within the education sector.  As such, we have been involved in sending education delegations to Indonesia and have published a resulting report entitled: Report of the U.S. Higher Education Leaders Mission to Indonesia: Recommendations on U.S. -Indonesia Enhanced Cooperation in Higher Education Under the Planned “Comprehensive Partnership.”

As part of its efforts to encourage greater educational exchange, USINDO has also compiled a list of resources of exchange opportunities for Americans, Indonesians, and educational institutions from both countries. Opportunities are listed for undergraduate, graduate, research/PhD/faculty, internships, and teachers/professionals.

Additional information on educational exchanges are available at the American-Indonesian Exchange Foundation(AMINEF), International Education Service and the Institute of International Education (IIE).
