A fellowship that funds the graduate education for Indonesian government future leaders to top schools in the U.S.
Past Fellows
In 2019, Ed Masters Review Committee approved Ms. Sherley Mega Sandiori as the recipient of 2020-2021 Edward E. Masters Fellowship award, taking into account her testing scores, leadership potential and academic excellence, among others.
Ms. Sandiori will be USINDO’s first Fellow to study at Harvard Law School, where she will pursue her LL.M. She is a foreign officer assigned to the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Due to coronavirus, she deferred her study from Fall 2020 to Fall 2021.
Rikianarsyi A. N. Wirantoputri
Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nietze School of Advanced International Studies
Rikianarsyi A. N. Wirantoputri is a Foreign Service Officer at the Directorate of ASEAN Political and Security Cooperation (Sub-directorate of Legal and Human Rights Affairs), Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She was chosen as the Chief of XXXVIII Batch of the School of Foreign Service, was among the Top 10 graduates her batch and attended diplomatic training at the Clingendael Institute of International Relations in 2015. She is now working on legal and human rights cooperation in ASEAN. Her purview ranges from being involved in the mechanism and work of ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), ASEAN Director General of Consular and Immigration Meetings (DGICM), ASEAN Senior Law Official Meeting (ASLOM), Senior Officials on the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters (SOMMLAT) and other related ASEAN Entities.
She loves writing both fiction and non-fiction. Her pieces had been published in the national newspaper and children magazine. She also studies Ikebana, the Japanese flower arrangement, and other flower designs.
Rikianarsyi holds B.A in International Relations with cum laude from Universitas Padjadjaran. She is pursuing her Master of Arts degree at the Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nietze School of Advanced International Studies, concentrating in International Economics and International Law and Organization.
Jhendra Ageng Samodra
Tufts University – Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy
Jhendra Ageng Samodra is a Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia with the diplomatic rank of Third Secretary. He is currently assigned to the Secretariat of the Directorate General for Multilateral Cooperation. As the desk officer for candidature affairs, his main purview is formulating the campaign strategy for Indonesia's elections and bids to the International Organizations. He is heavily involved in the campaign of Indonesia as the Non-Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) 2019-2020, at elections to be held on 8 June 2018 in New York. His portfolio includes the victory of Indonesia's candidacy as the Member of the Executive Board of UNESCO 2017-2021 and as the Member of the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 2018-2019.
As the Top 4 graduate of the batch of XXXVIII, he was chosen to attend the diplomatic training at the Clingendael Institute of International Relations in 2015 and successfully completed the internship at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, one of the busiest Indonesian missions abroad, in 2014. Prior to joining the Ministry, he worked for the ASEAN Secretariat, overseeing the cooperation on Education and Youth among ASEAN Member States and its Dialogue Partners.
Jhendra holds a B.A. in International Relations from the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) with Cum Laude and awarded as the Fastest Graduate of 2012. He had the opportunity to attend the Fall Semester Exchange Program at the National University of Singapore in 2011. During his study, Jhendra was active in English Debate Society and Model United Nations Club and representing UGM in various international and national tourneys/conferences.
He is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy of the Tufts University, concentrating in International Organizations and Public International Law.
Mashita I. Kamilia
Columbia Law School – LL.M Program
Mashita Insani Kamilia, or Mia as she is more familiarly addressed, has been a Foreign Service Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2012. She pursued her LL.M. degree at the Columbia Unviersity Law School. Upon entering the Ministry, she attended a 9-month mandatory training at the Ministry’s School for Junior Diplomats which was followed by a one month internship at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, one of the busiest Indonesian government representatives abroad. During her internship, she had the opportunity to experience, first-hand, assistance of Indonesian migrant workers facing an array of different issues. Afterwards, she was also part of a select group of students to attend the Clingendael Institute of International Relations where she spent two months with her peers learning various subjects related to international relations and visited many prominent international organizations, such as the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the International Criminal Court (ICC), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Following this course, she served at the Directorate of Economic, Social and Cultural Treaties where she regularly reviews treaties and international agreements related to economic issues, agriculture, and intellectual property. She was also involved in several negotiations regarding genetic resources, traditional knowledge and folklore (GRTKF) at the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Prior to working at the Ministry, Mashita obtained her Bachelor of Law from Diponegoro University, focusing on international law. She was also an active varsity English debater and adjudicator, having won the national championship in 2008. In her free time, Mashita enjoys reading, writing and playing with her pet cats.
Vladimir Ignatius Randy Kasasih

Vladimir Ignatius Randy Kasasih is a foreign service officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. He was enrolled in the Master of Arts program at the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), concentrating in both international economics as well as global history and theory. Joining the Ministry in 2014, he has been assigned in the South Pacific desk in the Directorate of Asia Pacific and African Intra-regional Cooperation. During which, he supports streamlining Indonesia’s engagement in the Pacific Islands Forum, the Southwest Pacific Dialogue and the Melanesian Spearhead Group.
He was awarded the best graduate of the class of 2014 upon the completion of his diplomatic training. He completed his diplomatic internship in Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, where he conducted his research on aligning Indonesia’s Global Maritime Fulcrum and China’s Maritime Silk Road. Ignatius Randy graduated in 2013 from Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (UNPAR) Bandung, majoring in international relations and specializing in maritime security. During his study in UNPAR, he was elected President of the Students Study Group for Analyzing International Affairs (KSMPMI) and lead the student-runned think-tank in 2011 – 2012, as well as other ASEAN student organization. Prior to officially joining the Ministry, he was an intern staff at the Security desk of the Directorate of ASEAN Political Security in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ainan Nuran

Ainan Nuran is a Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. She is currently assigned to the Directorate of Public Diplomacy, working to promote democracy, civil society, and youth empowerment. Ainan studied Economic and Political Development at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), so that she can work on Indonesian development issues in the future, starting in the Fall 2013.
Ainan graduated from the University of Indonesia in 2009 with a B.A. in International Relations, specializing on Transnational Society. After graduating, she interned with the Human Rights Working Group, and taught traditional Saman dance at a school for marginalized children in Jakarta. In early 2010, she joined the Ministry. During her free time, she enjoys travelling and taking analogue photographs.
Rudi Winandoko
Columbia University – School of International and Public Affairs
Rudi Winandoko is a Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. He was assigned to a diplomatic internship in the Embassy of the Republic Indonesia in Amman, where he saw the pervasive problems facing Indonesian migrant workers in the Middle East. Upon returning to Jakarta, Rudi worked with the Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation during Indonesia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2011. Rudi graduated from the University of Indonesia with a B.A. in Economics. During college, Rudi was actively involved in non-academic and organizational activities, and has published articles with several newspapers and publications. He is primarily interested in International Economics, with a focus on Capital Market and Investment. He holds an Indonesian Investment Manager Representative license. Rudi pursued his Master of International Affairs at the Columbia University, concentrating in International Finance and Economic Policy, starting in the fall of 2013.
Gulardi Nurbintoro
University of Virginia – School of Law
Gulardi Nurbintoro is the first Masters Fellow to study in a U.S. graduate program in Law. He has served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia since December 2010. Upon completing his junior diplomatic training, he was assigned to the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He also was selected as a participant for the Junior Diplomatic Course at the Clingendael Institute for International Relations in The Hague, Netherlands. More recently, he worked with the Ministry’s Directorate for South American and Caribbean Affairs. Gulardi graduated from the University of Indonesia (UI) where he majored in Transnational Law. He was involved with many student-run organizations at UI, including the International Law Moot Court Society. He started his graduate program in international law at the University of Virginia’s School of Law in the Fall of 2013, following the footsteps of his role model, Indonesia’s prominent international law of the sea expert, Prof. Hasyim Djalal.
Ignatius Puguh Priambodo

Ignatius Puguh Priambodo is the first recipient of USINDO’s Edward E. Masters Mid-Career Fellowship. He graduated in March 2014 after completing a one-year Global Masters of Arts Program (GMAP) at Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Mr. Priambodo has since returned to his post at KEMLU’s multilateral unit, where he is involved in the preparation for Indonesia’s bid for a seat at the UN Human Rights Council. He will assume his next international assignment in 2015.
An Indonesian diplomat working at KEMLU’s Secretariat of the Directorate General of Multilateral Affairs. Mr. Priambodo started his career at KEMLU in 2003, where he has worked in various divisions, including the Directorate of ASEAN Political Security Cooperation and the Directorate of Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs. From 2008-2011, he served as the Political and Multilateral Officer at the Indonesian Embassy in Nairobi, where he was also seconded to the Secretariat of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)’s resource mobilization section. Mr. Priambodo has considerable experience in negotiating for Indonesia at various international fora related to human rights, the environment, and development issues.
Andiputera P.A. Sparringa

Andi Sparringa is a Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. He was assigned for a diplomatic internship in the Embassy of Republic Indonesia in Tokyo, where he participated in the APEC 2010 Summit. Upon returning to Jakarta, Andi was assigned to the Directorate of ASEAN Political-Security Cooperation. He worked in consulting firms for two years before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Andi holds a B.A. in Political Science from Gajah Mada University in Jogjakarta, Indonesia. During college, he was active in various youth organizations, such as representing Indonesia in the Southeast Asian Youth Exchange Program, the ASEAN-Indonesia Youth Ambassadors, and the International Visitors Leadership program in the United States. His interest in democracy and security studies led him to pursue the Masters of Arts program in International Law and Diplomacy at the Flectcher School, Tufts University.
Erry Wahyu Prasetyo
Columbia University – School of International and Public Affairs
Erry Wahyu Prasetyo is a Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. After completing his Junior Diplomatic Course, he did a diplomatic internship at the Indonesian Permanent Mission to the UN, WTO and Other International Organtizations in Geneva and was later placed in the Center of Policy Analysis on International Organizations, performing researches on WTO, UNCTAD, and other trade and economic related issues. Erry graduated from Airlangga University in 2008 with a B.A. in International Relations, with specialization in International Economics and International Law. He worked in Colors Radio as a Producer and Announcer during his college years and spent some time working in the banking industry before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Erry pursued the Master of International Affairs program at the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University. As his main interests are international political economy, WTO and international trade, he took upon International Finance and Economic Policy as his concentration.
Narindra Bikka Mitya
Tufts University – Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy
Narindra is a Foreign Service Officer for the Republic of Indonesia. She received her B.A. in International Relations from Parahyangan Catholic University and spent three years working in the telecommunication industry in Jakarta prior to joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She was assigned to work on the promotion of democracy in Asia and the Pacific with the Directorate of Public Diplomacy in her first year, worked at the Office of the Director General for ASEAN Cooperation in her second year, and later dealt with inter-parliamentary cooperation and human rights issues in the Southeast Asia region with the Directorate of ASEAN Political and Security. She pursued the Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy program at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University. Her interests are foreign language and culture, regional cooperation, Islam and democracy, and conflict resolutions. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and going out with friends.

Gerrina Romadona Aryza is a Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. She was assigned consecutively to the Directorate of Asia-Pacific and Africa Intra-Regional Cooperation and Directorate of Trade, Industry, and Intellectual Property Rights where she was responsible for international economics and trade issues. Gerri pursued an M.A. in International Finance and Economic Policy at the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Gadjah Mada University in 2008 with a B.A. in Economics where she subsequently served as a teaching assistant for more than 3 years. Gerri also participated in the American Field Service Intercultural Program in Germany from 2001-2002. In her spare time, she enjoys reading classic books, listening to jazz music, watching movies, swimming, and drawing expressionist paintings. She was born in Jogjakarta, Indonesia.
Ibrahim Caraka Debe

A Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, was born and raised in a diplomatic family and reached one the highest positions in his diplomatic class. Inspired by Dr. N. Hassan Wirajuda, former Indonesian Foreign Minister, he pursued the two-year Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (MALD) program at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy of Tufts University. Given the interdisciplinary approach to the curriculum at the Fletcher School and his profound interest in regional integration, he will concentrate in the field of International Organizations. He received his B.A. in Political Sciences in International Department of Gadjah Mada University in 2007.
Yvonne Elizabeth Mewengkang

A Foreign Service Officer for the Republic of Indonesia. Yvonne pursued g a Master’s Degree in International Politics (IP) at the School of International Service, American University. Yvonne is particularly interested in the increasingly prominent role of International Organizations (IOs) in international affairs. She has worked as a journalist, and holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Communications, at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sam Ratulangi University, Indonesia. Yvonne has traveled extensively as a diplomat with the Directorate of Public Diplomacy, representing her country in numerous international programs.
Gracia Indira Caroline Sidabutar

successfully graduated in May of 2012.
A Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. She works on issues including International Organizations, Trade Policy, and Agriculture. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Ms. Gracia was the President of AIESEC Indonesia, the world’s largest student-run organization devoted to developing high-potential youth into global-minded responsible leaders.
She pursued her graduate degree in the two-year Master of International Affairs (MIA) program at the School of International and Public Affairs in Columbia University. Given the interdisciplinary curriculum of the MIA program and her profound interest in the international political economy, Ms. Gracia will concentrate in the field of Economic and Political Development with a specialization in International Organizations. She was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, and spent time in Europe and East Asia. Ms. Gracia received her B.A. degree in Economics and Development from the University of Indonesia in 2006.
Nona Siska Noviyanti

Nona Siska Noviyanti pusued her degree in the two-year Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (MALD) program at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Given the interdisciplinary approach to the curriculum at the Fletcher School and her interest in international migration affairs, she will concentrate in the field of International Political Economy and International Organizations. Nona Siska is a diplomat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. She was born in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1982 and received her B.A. in Social Sciences in International Department of University of Indonesia in 2005. In the summer of 2010 she will be conducting research on Indonesian labor standards.
Awidya Santikajaya

Awidya Santikajaya was a Master of Arts student at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University, Washington, DC. Before beginning studies at SAIS, he worked on Indonesian-American trade cooperation as a junior Indonesian diplomat. He will focus his studies on International Economics and Southeast Asia. During his first year at SAIS, he was a speaker at The Asian Studies Conference organized by The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) in Washington, DC, and again at The Graduate Student Conference in University of Washington, Seattle. He will also be speaking at the 5th Southeast Asian Conference in Vienna, Austria and at the EuroSEAS Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden. In the summer of 2010, he will conduct research on the Southern Thailand conflict at the International Security and International Studies (ISIS), Bangkok.
Supriyanto Suwito

Supriyanto Suwito is a first-year Master of International Affairs (MIA) student at Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), with a concentration in International Security Policy. After receiving his B.A. in International Relations from the University of Indonesia in 2006, Supriyanto joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. He spent his first year in the Ministry attending diplomatic trainings in Jakarta and The Hague, as well as doing a three-month internship in the Indonesian Mission to the United Nations in New York. Upon returning to Jakarta, Supriyanto was consecutively assigned to the Department of International Security and Disarmament, the Office of the Director General for Multilateral Affairs, and the Department for ASEAN Political and Security Cooperation. In the fall of 2009, after winning the Edward Masters USINDO-SAIS John Hopkins Fellowship Program, he began his studies at Columbia. In the summer of 2010 Supriyanto will be conducting independent research on topics with strategic importance to Indonesia’s foreign policy (such as: ASEAN, climate change, counter-terrorism, G-20, Islam & Democracy).
