Hazelia Margaretha

COUNTRY REPRESENTATIVE, USINDO JAKARTA

Hazelia Margaretha is the Country Representative of United States-Indonesia Society (USINDO). USINDO is premier and bi-national non-governmental organization exclusively supporting United States – Indonesia relations and mutual understanding between two countries and its people. She currently leads and manages USINDO office in Indonesia. She is also an adjunct lecturer with Paramadina University. Previously,  Senior Research Officer for both the Jakarta office of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) and Australian National University’s Centre for Democratic Institutions (CDI),  Ms. Hazelia managed research projects and programs related to Indonesian democracy and good governance. In this role she has built networks with various actors in Jakarta, conducted programs and policy-relevant research and workshops, and provided advice on strengthening political parties and parliamentary assistance.

 

Prior to joining CDI and NDI, she was an analyst with the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where she focused on Indonesian political affairs and decentralization. She has also served as a program officer and researcher at Paramadina University, Jakarta, where she had focused on educational initiatives. Her writings have previously appeared in The Jakarta Post, The Jakarta Globe, East Asia Forum, and others.

Ms. Hazelia holds a Master of Science in Asian Studies (Cum Laude) from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations (Summa Cum Laude) from Paramadina University, Jakarta.
