“By the end of the course, we all found ourselves deeply immersed within the local Javanese culture. Between camping trips to far-flung islands, excursions to Solo City, and much, much more, we all experienced Java in a deeply impactful way. Now that I am back in my home city, I find myself missing Yogyakarta very much. …Indonesia is a wonderful and complex nation, defying and overcoming its’ differences to maintain national unity. I remain fascinated by Indonesia, and am excited to do research for my master’s thesis in Java in a couple years’ time. To next years’ participants: selamat belajar bahasa Indonesia!”
