Call for Applications: YSEALI Professional Fellows Program 2025

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program (YSEALI PFP) is a fully-funded exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State designed to promote mutual understanding, enhance leadership and professional skills, and build lasting and sustainable partnerships between emerging leaders in Southeast Asia and the United States.
About the program
YSEALI PFP provides emerging leaders from Southeast Asia the opportunity to gain first-hand experiences in, and exposure to, U.S. public and private sector offices working on a variety of issues related to the four themes of:
- Civic Engagement
- Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Empowerment
- Society and Governance
- Sustainability and the Environment
YSEALI PFP will be administered as a hybrid program, which includes virtual activities and a tentative in-person U.S.-based exchange. Applicants must have reliable internet connectivity to participate in the virtual activities.
Program Dates
Applicants may participate in one of the two program cycles:
Cycle 1:
Early 2025: Virtual activities will launch with - one live session per month throughout the duration of the program. Some professional asynchronous activities may accompany each live session.
May - June 2025: The U.S.-based exchange concluding with the YSEALI Fellows Forum (YFF) is tentatively scheduled.
Cycle 2:
Summer 2025: Virtual activities will launch with - one live session per month throughout the duration of the program. Some professional asynchronous activities may accompany each live session.
September/October 2025: The U.S.-based exchange concluding with the YSEALI Fellows Forum (YFF) is tentatively scheduled.
Eligibility:
- Be a mid-level professional, between 25-35 years old at the time of application
- Be a citizen and current resident of: Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, or Vietnam
- Demonstrate proficiency in both written and oral English
- Have at least two years of relevant professional experience and be currently employedHave demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills
