Indonesia’s realizing its full potential for development and economic growth requires the presence of rule of law, accountability, and transparency in conducting financial transactions, and the capacity to assess the performance of its economic reforms.  How well the executive branch safeguards integrity, maintains transparency, and measures results also is crucial for companies considering investing in Indonesia.

Indonesia’s Supreme Audit Board (BPK) is a key agency seeking to ensure accountability and transparency in President Jokowi’s ambitious program to increase investment and economic reform, including making the most of Indonesia’s underutilized asset, its maritime potential.  President Jokowi’s program requires such reforms as speeding up business licensing, increasing revenue through tax reform, reducing fuel subsidies to finance infrastructure, and achieving increased productivity and competitiveness.

BPK tracks the effectiveness and financial management of all such programs.  It is also bolstering an anti-corruption climate through an increase in performance audits, exchange of information, knowledge sharing, personnel support, and coordination with Indonesia’s anti-graft body, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

USINDO, in cooperation with Management Systems International (MSI) and USAID, is pleased to welcome the Chairman of Indonesia’s Audit Board (BPK), Dr. Harry Azhar Azis, who will discuss how BPK plans to enhance accountability and transparency in governance, as the underpinning of the new government’s agenda for investment and economic reform.  Dr. Azis’ talk will be followed by Questions and Answers.  Please join us for this informative event.
