Students Give Back

Following the news of the earthquake in Haiti, the students of UNSYIAH Laboratory School held several events to raise funds for the Haiti victims, collecting nearly $700 that was donated to Save the Children’s Haiti fund. For two weeks in mid-January, 2010 students prepared and sold food and drinks to their fellow classmates during the mid-morning break, organized a charity car wash, volunteered as parking lot attendants, and set out collection boxes on the street of Banda Aceh to raise money from area residents. The senior class presented the funds as their class gift during the graduation ceremony on June 19, 2010, requesting the money be used to help the school children impacted by the Haiti earthquake.
