FULBRIGHT STUDY RESEARCH IN ACADEMIC & CREATIVE/PERFORMING ARTS FIELDS
Description: Grants to conduct individually designed study/research with advisers at foreign universities or other institutes of higher education, generally for 8-12 months.
Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or the equivalent before the start of the grant, but may not hold a doctoral degree at the time of application. In the creative and performing arts, four years of professional training and/or experience meets the basic eligibility requirement. VIA (VOLUNTEERS IN ASIA)
Description: VIA provide U.S. Citizens and U.S. Residents (between the ages of 18 and 75) volunteer opportunities and fellowships in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand, where volunteers may teach English or work with a local non-profit. On the U.S. side, they bring Asian students from top universities in Japan, Taiwan, Korea and China to Stanford where they learn about American culture, public service, and healthcare, so the exchange comes full circle.

CRITICAL LANGUAGE GRANTS
Description: A program of United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program offers fully-funded summer overseas language and cultural immersion program in fourteen critical languages.
Requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be enrolled in an accredited U.S. degree-granting program at the undergraduate (associate's, bachelor's) or graduate (master's, doctoral, professional degree) level.
- Current undergraduate students must have completed at least one year of general college course-work by program start date (one year is defined as two semesters or three quarters).
- Applicants must be 18 by the beginning of the program.
- Language levels and prerequisites apply for some target languages.

FREEMAN-ASIA
Description: Provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduates with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. The program’s goal is to increase the number of Americans with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures.
Requirements:
- US. citizens or permanent residents
- Must be an undergraduate student with a minimum GPA of 2.8, pursuing his or her first bachelor's degree (or associate's degree), at a two-year or a four-year institution of higher education in the United States.
- Must currently receive need-based financial aid or demonstrate a verifiable need for financial assistance to participate in the proposed study abroad program.
- Must have applied or have been accepted to a study abroad based program in: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.
- Must have applied to or have been accepted by a study abroad based program that awards academic credits through the home campus or other U.S. accredited college or university. The proposed length of study in the host country must be a minimum of 8 weeks for a summer term, 10 weeks for a quarter term, and 12 weeks for a semester term.

DARMASISWA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Description: The Darmasiswa Scholarship is designed to promote and increase global interest in the language and culture of Indonesia as well as to strengthen the cultural links and understanding between Indonesia and participating countries. Applicants may choose between a 3 month, 6 month, or 1 year period of study.
Requirements: Must be over 17 years old and under 35 years old. Must have completed secondary education or its equivalent. Must be in good health as proved by Medical Certificate. Must be able to communicate in English. Must have a basic knowledge of the field for which they’re applying

FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND AREA STUDIES FELLOWSHIPS PROGRAM
Description: The Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships program provides allocations of academic year and summer fellowships to institutions of higher education or consortia of institutions of higher education to assist meritorious undergraduate students and graduate students undergoing training in modern foreign languages and related area or international studies. Eligible students apply for fellowships directly to an institution that has received an allocation of fellowships from the U.S. Department of Education.
Requirements: US citizens, nationals, or permanent residents who are accepted for enrollment or are enrolled in an institution receiving an allocation of fellowships. This must be in a program that combines modern foreign language training with area or international studies; or research and training in the international aspects of professional and other fields of study. Applicants must show potential for high academic achievement based on such indices as grade point average, class ranking, or similar measures that the institution may determine. In the case of an undergraduate student, is in the intermediate or advanced study of a less commonly taught language; or in the case of a graduate student is engaged in pre-dissertation study, preparation for dissertation research, dissertation research abroad, or dissertation writing.

ASIA-PACIFIC LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (APLP)
Description: The Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP) is the center of excellence for leadership education in Asia Pacific and a signature program of the East-West Center. The program links advanced and interdisciplinary analysis of emergent regional issues with experiential leadership learning. The APLP is a nine-month program (early-August to early-May) with a four-month residency requirement. During the first four months, all participants are based at the East-West Center in Honolulu and live on campus. The second phase of the program takes place online through virtual platforms.
Requirements: Applicants must have at least a 3-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited U.S. College or University or from a recognized institution of higher learning abroad, at least 5 years of work experience, and a demonstrated commitment to promoting peace and prosperity in the Asia Pacific region, and a deep interest in experiential leadership development training.

DAVID L. BOREN FELLOWSHIP FOR LANGUAGE STUDIES
Description: Boren Fellowships provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. graduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Boren Fellowships are made for a minimum of 12 weeks overseas and a maximum of one year overseas.

EAST-WEST CENTER GRADUATE DEGREE FELLOWSHIP
Description: The East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship provides master's and doctoral funding for graduate students from Asia, the Pacific, and the United States to participate in educational, cultural, residential community building, and leadership development programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate study at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM). The fellowship covers full-time graduate tuition and fees up toward master's or doctoral studies; housing, stipend, book allowance, and health insurance subsidy.
Requirements: Open for citizens or permanent residents of the United States and citizens of countries in the Pacific and Asia, including Russia. Must have obtained a 4-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited U.S. college or university, or from a recognized institution of higher learning abroad. Generally, an applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (4.0=A scale) or the equivalent.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE FELLOW PROGRAM
Description: Through the English Language Fellow (EL Fellow) Program, highly qualified U.S. educators in the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) participate in 10-month-long fellowships at academic institutions throughout the world. The EL Fellow Program fosters mutual understanding, promotes English language learning and enhances English teaching capacity abroad. EL Fellows share their professional expertise, hone their skills, gain international experience and learn about other cultures.

Description: This grant is for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers who are U.S. citizens and wish to pursue their research activities in Indonesia. Grants are given for research in any field of contemporary and traditional Indonesian Studies, with preference given to applications focusing on science and technology, broadly understood; women’s empowerment; food security; and Islamic Studies and/or Indonesia-United States Relations.

ASIA STUDIES FELLOWSHIP
Description:This fellowship supports scholars and analysts who wish to undertake research and writing on topics of relevance to contemporary US-Asia policy; in particular, key challenges in U.S.-Asia relations and possible responses and approaches to addressing those challenges. The fellowship finances residencies for a period of three months in Washington, D.C. at the East-West Center in Washington. Residency may begin as early as March 2018 and extend through September 2018. All fellowships must conclude by September 30. Fellows will complete articles or a monograph and must give a seminar on their topic.
Requirements: Applicants with or without a Ph.D. will be considered; those without a Ph.D. will be considered based on their relevant professional experience. Applicants must be nationals of a country from the Asia-Pacific or the United States and eligible to receive a fellowship stipend. Description: The Fulbright Specialist Program sends U.S. faculty and professionals to serve as expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning, and other subjects at academic institutions abroad for a period of 2 to 6 weeks. Both university faculty members and highly experienced non-academics, including legal experts, business professionals, artists, scientists, and journalists, are encouraged to apply and use their unique expertise in support of host institutions abroad.

Description: This program funds fellowships through institutions of higher education (IHEs) to faculty members who propose to conduct research abroad for 3 to 12 months in modern foreign languages and area studies to improve their skill in languages and their knowledge of the culture of the people of these countries.
Requirements: An applicant must be a citizen or national of the United States or is a permanent resident of the United States who is employed by an institution of higher education; as been engaged in teaching relevant to his or her foreign language or area studies specialization for the two years immediately preceding the date of the award; who proposes research relevant to his or her modern foreign language or area studies specialization,which is not dissertation research for a doctoral degree; and who possesses sufficient foreign language skills to carry out the research project.

Description: The Core Fulbright Scholar Program offers over 500 teaching, research or combination teaching/research awards in over 125 countries. The grant gives funding for two to 12 months.

CHANGING FACES WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Description: This 12-day immersive, leadership and professional development seminar is designed for innovative women entrepreneurs from Asia, the Pacific, and the United States to enhance their leadership skills and entrepreneurial capacity; experientially explore innovative entrepreneurship, leadership, and community examples; build a sense of self-efficacy; and expand national and regional networks.
Requirements: The Changing Faces Seminar targets female business owners and social entrepreneurs from the U.S. and the Asia Pacific region who have demonstrated leadership and ability to affect change and influence others in their communities. Innovative entrepreneurs, business managers, government and industry policymakers, and civil society leaders with at least seven years of work experience and who play a leadership role in their community are eligible to apply. Applicants must have the ability to communicate in English in a professional setting.
