Indonesia has been and continues to be a victim of terrorism from ISIS and other terrorist groups. In 2016, President Jokowi appointed General Suhardi Alius as Head of Indonesia’s National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT), a ministerial-level position. BNPT prevents terrorism and radicalism, working with both government institutions and the community.

BNPT’s efforts include the expected prevention, protection, and prosecution roles. But under General Alius, BNPT has also expanded its efforts to work with former terrorists, using approaches where possible to bring about their de-radicalization and rehabilitation, avoiding their marginalization, and enabling their return to the community where possible.

We are fortunate to have General Suhardi Alius as our speaker on Monday July 22 to explain Indonesia’s s counter-terrorism approach. His talk will be followed by a Q and A and general discussion.

Please join us for this opportunity to learn about Indonesia’s unique approach to counter terrorism directly from its leading architect.

This event is open and free of charge. To register, please RSVP HERE by Friday, July 19 at Noon. For questions, please contact dhanifah@usindo.org or call 202-232-1400.
